anita

The 10th anniversary of the Young Writers' Conference kicked off at Adams Middle School on November 19, 2007.  A crew from Time Warner Cable was there to capture the event and talk to some participants and students.

jeriWe just got word that the piece will be running on CNN Headline News this Friday and Saturday, December 14th and 15th.  It will be on the So Cal News segment which runs every 24 and 54 minutes after each hour.  For Time Warner Cable customers, it will be on channel 205.

You will also be able to watch it on Video on Demand, and after it runs, on  http://www.twcsocalnews.com/.  Of course, we will also put the clip on our website.  We can't think of a better way to start the season than with a successful conference at Adams Middle School and television coverage!

Our thanks to everyone in our Young Writers' Conference community -- we are so grateful for everyone's contributions and support.outside

Best wishes to all this holiday season, and we look forward to 2008 as we continue to strive to fulfill the mission of the Young Writers' Conference.

With kind regards,

Julie & Rena

kidsAbout Young Writers' Conference

In 1998, the National Writing Commission on Writing in America's Schools issued a call to launch a writing revolution in our country's schools; a call that was answered with the foundation of the Young Writers' Conference (YWC) in the Los Angeles area.  Now celebrating its tenth year, YWC continues to bring their program, which is organized like a university conference, to elementary and middle school students throughout the Los Angeles region.  Pairing students with professional writers from a wide variety of disciplines, the students participate in a series of workshops designed to fulfill the mission of improving their writing skills by first instilling a passion for writing.  For more information, please visit: www.youngwritersconference.org or call 310-880-9176.
