ave you ever wondered how movies get started? Or wanted to be a comedian but didn’t know where to begin? Or thought about where those TV and radio advertisements came from? Well, believe it or not all of these questions can be answered very easily - with writing. It may not seem like it, but the task of writing extends past the long, boring essays for school, or even long, boring books you may have to read. In fact, writing is involved in almost anything you choose to do! Like some of you, I never used to believe this either until I attended my first Young Writers’ Conference at age nine.   For example, I learned that every movie or TV show came from a screenplay or book that someone had to write, and each joke your favorite comedian told had to be thought up and written down first. Even the health facts on your cereal box and instructions for your new video game had to be written by someone! The power of the written word is everywhere, and for me, it took one amazing day of writing at the Young Writers’ Conference to reveal the vast, exciting world of writing. I hope you, too, get to open the doors and discover the power of words.
